2015 Easter Egg Roll: Let's Move!, Live! and #Gimme5!

The annual Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn of the White House was again flanked with kids of all sizes and ages dressed in pretty, and handsomely colored Easter attire waiting their turn to roll an Easter egg down a stretch of green, spring grass.  There were no prizes for the winners who got their egg to the finish line first; just the pageantry of being on the White House lawn, seeing the president and first lady and having amazing fun.

The weather cooperated perfectly.  It was a sunny, pleasant 70 degrees; a bit less warm than years pass when visitors could be seen with beads of sweat brimming from foreheads - and underarms.

Seemingly, there were less kids at the Egg Roll station, and the event was also missing a few members of the first family.  Both grandma Robinson and first daughters, Malia and Sasha were missing from the event.  Their dad told the crowd the two girls "had school stuff" that needed tending to.  It was a different not seeing the entire family traditionally walk the South Lawn together, but we did get glimpses of Bo and Sunny, the first family's (all grown up now) Portuguese water dogs, being led on leashes around the White House grounds by National Park Service employees.

The event kicked off with the singing of the National Anthem by ID4GIRLS.

Michael Strahan and Kelly Ripa of "ABC's Live with Kelly and Michael" donned the Egg Roll station along with Ripa's three children.  All clamored to get their egg down the end of the narrow line with a wooden spoon.  Afterwards, all took time to pose as a unit for the cameras before being wisked away to the next station.

Several athletes participated at various sports themed stations and could be seen playing basketball, football and tennis with the exuberant youth.  Names that included the likes of  Bradley Beal, John Wall and Kevin Seraphin from the Washington Wizards NBA team, and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, all of whom helped join in celebrating the 5th year of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative designed to help kids and families exercise regularly and eat healthier.

The all-girl group Fifth Harmony sang Happy Birthday to mark the 5-year occasion.

This year's Let's Move theme is 'Gimme5'. The first lady wants Americans to show five ways they are living a healthy and active lifestyle.  The theme is being promoted on social media under the hash tag #Gimme5 and as the first lady said, "Everybody's doing it", including Beyonce.  There's even a corresponding Gimme5 dance.

Quite possibly the Easter Bunny, also making an appearance today, has done it too.

In wake of the Zika virus, travel, spring break still O.K.

Representatives from the CDC and the NIH were on hand at the White House during Monday's press briefing to update the public and address concerns over the Zika virus that has caused some babies to be born with deformities. Dr. Anne Schuchat from the Centers for Disease Control and Dr. Tony Fauci from the National Institutes of Health told reporters that a vaccine is in the making.   The pair also said they are particulary concerned about women who are pregnant, or plan to get pregnant, who have either traveled to or plan to travel to areas of South America and the Carribean known to have the Zika virus. Despite those bold statements, the doctors said there is no wide-spread concern and that Americans should continue to travel, including during upcoming college spring breaks --  when college students travel to warmer climate destinations to escape winter weather. "Travel to Zika-affected areas is very common among Americans, and we don’t think that needs to stop...
