Winding down a presidency comes with a farewell speech... and a warning.

Oh, what a week in politics it has been!

President Biden addressed the nation Wednesday in what will likely be his last public television address of his administration, just days before the inauguration of president-elect Donald Trump.

President Biden addressed the Hamas conflict and shared concerns for the nation as the new U.S. presidential regime prepares to lead the country.

Biden elected to step back to allow Vice President Kamala Harris to run for president in his stead, with just 90 days until the 2025 election, amid concerns for his health and mental capacity.

In his speech, he warned that the country being run by "ultra wealthy people", could have "dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked." (See the seven-minute mark).

X owner Elon Musk, who some see as already serving in an unofficial capacity in the Trump administration, is a concern of which President Biden speaks. Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon creator Jeff Bezos also plan to advise the Trump administration.

Donald Trump won the election, a second time, over a Democratic president.

In his capacity he becomes the first U.S. president who holds the title of a twice-impeached president and convicted felon.  Trump plans to engage Executive Orders to achieve his interests and has selected questionable candidates to serve in his cabinet. Most notably, Fox News host Pete Hegseth, whose reports of sexual misconduct, strip clubs, and alcohol abuse has been pegged to lead the military as Secretary of Defense.

Confirmation hearings for Trump's attorney general (AG) pick, Pam Bondi, continue this week as she answers questions from senate majority leaders about her capabilities and past role as Florida AG, where she served from 2011 to 2019. Bondi was the first woman elected to that office.

Also preparing for the 'change of duty' is Vice President Kamala Harris.

As her tenure as vice president winds down, Harris remarked on an Executive Order about the country's place in the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

"The Executive Order announced today will ensure the United States has the infrastructure — including large-scale data centers and clean power facilities — necessary to maintain America’s competitive advantage and safeguard our national security interests. The significant electrical power needs of large-scale AI operations also present a new opportunity for advancing American leadership in clean-energy technology, which will power our future economy. By activating the full force of the federal government to speed up and scale AI operations here in the United States, we are securing our global leadership on AI, which will have a profound impact on our economy, society, and national security for generations to come."

Vice President Kamala Harris, and Second Gentlemen Doug EmHoff, will attend the Department of Defense Commander in Chief Farewell Ceremony today where President Biden will deliver remarks.

The Trump inauguration will take place Monday, January 20th. It is being reported that the HBCU Mississippi Valley State University marching band will perform, as will country music artist Carrie Underwood, and curators of Trump's official rally song, YMCA, will be performed by The Village People.

While most former first ladies attend the inauguration of an incoming president, it has been reported that former first lady Michelle Obama will not attend the Trump inauguration.  She also elected not to join her husband, former president Barack Obama, at a memorial service for former president Jimmy Carter who passed away at 100 years old last week.

Temperatures in the DC area on inauguration day are expected to reach the teens.

****UPDATED 1/17/2025****

According to sources, the Trump inauguration will be held inside the Capitol Rotunda.

Inauguration Ceremony Moved Indoors: Due to an extreme cold wave in Washington, D.C., with temperatures dropping to -15°C (5°F), Trump's inauguration ceremony has been relocated to the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. The event is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM, where both Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance will take their oaths. To accommodate the public, the ceremony will be livestreamed at the Capital One Arena.

Despite those bold statements, the doctors said there is no wide-spread concern and that Americans should continue to travel, including during upcoming college spring breaks --  when college students travel to warmer climate destinations to escape winter weather. "Travel to Zika-affected areas is very common among Americans, and we don’t think that needs to stop...
