Happy Birthday, Mr. President

Today Is Our President's 49th Birthday.
Wish our president a Happy 49th Birthday!

The president will be traveling to Chicago this weekend for his 49th birthday, an event that includes being away from his family on his special day.

Aw, so sad.

Daughter, Malia is away at camp, and our First Lady is traveling to Spain this week with Sasha for a private, mother-daughter trip with longtime family friends (about 60) where she is paying an official visit to Their Majesties - King Juan Carlos - and Queen Sophia of Spain at their invitation. (Just to point out, President Obama was not out of town for his wife's birthday, and took First Lady Michelle out to dinner at Restaurant Nora, a well-known organic restaurant here in D.C. on her birthday earlier this year).

Thankfully, the president got to spend some quality time at last Sunday's Washington Mystics vs Tulsa Shock WNBA game with daughter, Sasha.  (Photos here).

When White Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was asked during yesterday's briefing whether the president was upset at all that his family is not going to be with him on his birthday, Gibbs replied, "Well, you get a long answer, but I think it’s safe to say that of course he will miss them. He has a daughter at camp.  That I know, he’s already [spoken] to a couple of us that [indicating that] obviously, he dearly misses [them]. But they’ll be all back together soon."

Let's show our president that he is not alone on his birthday.

Let's all send our well wishes and sign President Obama's birthday card, courtesy of his wife, our First Lady, Michelle Obama - whom we're sure gave him a birthday gift before she left town.

In other birthday news, embattled Congressman, Charlie Rangel will turn 80 on August 11th.  Aretha Franklin, who was scheduled to perform at his birthday party, had to cancel her performance due to injuries she sustained to her ribs (fractured) and abdomen after falling last Sunday.

"I will really miss that nice slice of cake from Congressman Charlie Rangel's birthday party and singing happy birthday to him", said Franklin.

Franklin has also cancelled two other scheduled events in New York due to the recent injuries.

Former White House correspondent Helen Thomas, shares the August 4th birth date with the president.

More.  Some just can't play nice, even on a birthday.

Despite those bold statements, the doctors said there is no wide-spread concern and that Americans should continue to travel, including during upcoming college spring breaks --  when college students travel to warmer climate destinations to escape winter weather. "Travel to Zika-affected areas is very common among Americans, and we don’t think that needs to stop...
