Members of civil rights groups met with Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice Tuesday with a list of concerns they say were meant to put Sessions “on notice.” "The meeting was two-fold", said Wade Henderson,  president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights .  We met with Sessions "to present the agenda of national civil rights organizations and to discuss with the AG our expectations for his responsibility to the American people to address issues of national concern regarding civil and human rights", he said. Gets Unlikely Call From An (Unlikely) Viewer Reverend Al Sharpton , host of MSNBC's Politics Nation, received a Happy Birthday call from (wait for it), 2012  presidential candidate Newt Gingrich . “ I figured I would be the least likely phone call you ’ ll get tonight, ” said Gingrich. To which the Reverend replied, "Well, you got that right". The good Rev. thanked Gingrich for calling in. "I appreciate you calling me on my birthday." If these two can join forces, even for a moment, then certainly the GOP and President Obama stand a chance of putting their differences behind them to move the country forward. Sharpton, who declined the invitation to participate on the popular TV series Dancing With the Stars last year, turned 58, on October 3rd. He and his National Action Network plan a rally and March for Jobs on October 15th, a day before the rescheduled Martin Luther King, Jr. dedication on October 16 on the National Mall.

Calling Out Glenn Beck. Fox News' Glenn Beck planned a rally at the Lincoln Memorial on the anniversary of Dr. King's I Have A Dream Speech. Can Someone Get This Guy Some Prozac? Beck Needs It. Beck claims he didn't plan to have his 'restore honor to America' rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on the 47th anniversary at the site of Dr. Martin Luther King's I Have a Dream Speech . Given the above facts, it sounds premeditated to me. The president met with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to discuss the economy, job creation and the need to pass health care reform.  During the meeting with the CBC, congress woman Barbara Lee remarked on the impact of the economy in economically distressed communities and the need for additional assistance in these areas, Members presented their concerns and solutions for broadening the impact of the recovery effort. The office of the Press Secretary is reporting that the participants agreed on what can be done to impact unemployment immediately, and in the long term, including summer youth employment, job training tied to apprenticeships, a review of Recovery Act contracting to ensure access to these opportunities is fair and equitable, and an appreciation for the jobs that can be generated through weatherization programs, and the passage of health care reform."
