President Obama Makes A Push For the Buffet Rule (One More Time)

Speaking today in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB), President Obama made another plea to Congress, and the American public to call Congress, in support of the Buffet rule which would stipulate that the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share of taxes.  President Ronald Reagan offered the same plan during his presidency as well.  Willing to comprise with Congress (yet again), the president suggested, "And if it will help convince folks in Congress to make the right choice, we could call it the Reagan Rule instead of the Buffett Rule." Billionaire Warren Buffet , whose secretary pays a higher amount of taxes than he, was the inspiration behind the proposed rule. A transcript follows below. Newt Gingrich Visits Pepsi Plant

The down, but-not-yet-counting-himself-out, presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, remains on the campaign trail. Today he is visiting a Pepsi plant in Bern, NC where he tweets - "This is an original bottle of Pepsi." He also tweeted a picture of him visiting with John Johnson, owner of Hamlin Drug Co, the oldest African American owned pharmacy in America. We're guessing this is his last ditch effort to gain voter support from the African American community, as he continues to trail substantially behind Mitt Romney. George Herbert Walker Bush is one of fifteen award recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom award. The Medal of Freedom is the Nation’s highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors. Bush was the 41st President of the United States. Prior to that, he was Vice President in the Reagan Administration, Director of Central Intelligence, Chief of the U.S. Liaison’s Office to the People’s Republic of China, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and a Member of the House of Representatives from the 7th District of Texas. He served in the Navy during World War II. President Bush and President Clinton worked together to encourage aid for victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004.
