The White House issued the following pool report as the Obamas continue their vacation on Martha's Vineyard -- helping close friend, Vernon Jordan, celebrate his 80th birthday. From the White House: "Tonight, the First Family attended the 80th birthday celebration for Vernon Jordan, Jr.  at the Farm Neck Golf Club. There were approximately 200 guests in attendance. "The President and First Lady have known the Jordans for over twenty years, and were grateful to have sat with Ann and other guests this evening. "Toasts were offered between courses. Ann Jordan offered the first toast, welcoming guests and honoring her husband. President Obama then toasted Vernon extolling his kindness and generosity. The President told attendees that Vernon's wisdom and enthusiasm are rare qualities. "Third and fourth toasts were offered by President Clinton and Vickee Jordan, respectively. James Brady, the press secretary who was shot as he tried to shield President Ronald Reagan from an assassin's bullet has died.    Brady was left paralyzed after the 1981 incident. President Reagan survived the attack by John Hinkley, Jr. outside the Washington Hilton hotel.  The hotel serves as the present venue for the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner.   The assassination attempt would later spawn the Brady handgun control bill (signed by President Bill Clinton ) which, under law, meant prospective gun purchasers must wait at least five days while a background check was done before they could legally purchase a handgun.  The bill gave way to backlash by those who say the bill trampled upon a person's Second Amendment rights. After watching this video documentary by former White House Press Secretary Bill Moyer , titled The Secret Government : The Constitution In Crisis, one could ask is Barack Obama the best president the United States has ever had? The unveiled co-op lies and deception of presidents dating back as far as the 1940s revealed in Moyer's documentary leads one to wonder if the American people have forgotten about the government dealings of this country, have selective memory, or just don't care.  Either way it is beyond belief that given such details about former presidents why some Americans (and Congress) question, dissect, bemoan and groan about every decision the current president makes.
