Andrew Brietbart Found Dead

Andrew Brietbart , the conservative blogger best known in Washington, D.C. for his malicious manipulation of a video of then USDA employee Shirley Sherrod, has been found dead. Two years ago, Brietbart convinced millions of viewers of his video that Ms. Sherrod provided unacceptable service white farmers by saying she wasn't going to help them save their farm land. Sherrod was immediately fired, upon viewing of the video by her employer. It was later found that Sherrod never made such comments, but that Brietbart extracted pieces of her comment to make it sound as such. Sherrod was offered her job back, which she declined, and reports indicated the Sherrod had planned to sue Brietbart. No word on the outcome, or the if an original suit was ever filed. Breitbart's death came as a surprise to many, including presidential candidate Rick Santorum. "That's horrible, anybody know what happened?", asked a shocked Santorum of reporters who broke the news earlie...

Shirley Sherrod Sues

As Well She Should Shirley Sherrod , the ousted USDA employee is finally having her just desserts.  After being called something, for which she is not, via a manipulated video last August, Sherrod is finally suing the perpetrator, Andrew Breitbart, for "defamation, false light, and infliction of emotional distress". Breitbart's infamous video portrayed Sherrod as a racist who wouldn't help white families with saving their land. "This lawsuit is not about politics or race," Sherrod said in a statement. "It is not about right versus left, the NAACP or the Tea Party. It is about how quickly, in today's Internet media environment, a person's good name can become 'collateral damage' in an overheated political debate." Sherrod, after refusing the offer from US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsak to return to the USDA, said she is unemployed and that no offers of employment are on the table. "I'm just trying to survive....

Shirley Sherrod NOT Coming Back To US Agricultural Department

Wants To Sort Over Past Month's Events Shirley Sherrod, not returning to US Department of Agriculture. In a session earlier today, ousted and disgraced USDA employee, Shirley Sherrod stated that though the offer from USDA's Secretary Tom Vilsack to return was tempting, she needs a little time to "sort things out", and "take a break" from all she's had to deal with. As such, she's not coming back (at this time) to work at the USDA. "I think I can be helpful to him and the department if I just take a little break and look at how I can be more helpful in the future," Sherrod said. Sherrod was ousted from her position at the USDA amid out-of-context remarks that surfaced on the Internet earlier this month. Not ruling out the possibility of staying connected with the USDA, Sherrod said, "I look forward to some type of relationship with the department in the future," she said. "We do need to work on the issues of discri...

NY Times Columnist Thinks What Many Have, Already

Mr. President, You Need Some Black Advisors Mr. President and his Cabinet  members. Photo/WhiteHouse.gov. Shirley Sherrod, Henry Louis Gates, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.  And Tiger Woods.  The list of those scathed by President Obama goes on when it comes race relations in America.   I mention Tiger Woods because he was another prominent African American who has trouble admitting he is, in fact, African American as President Obama did on The View last week. That didn't  gel too well with us here at Politics. On Point. Perhaps, with all the ridiculed backlash our president gets for talking about race - when he does talk about it (which isn't often) he just doesn't want to deal with it. Perhaps he is ill-advised on what to say about America's race problem when the issue does arise (as it will time and again). Many, self included, wonder if our President actually has African American advisers to coach (as it were) him throug...

Just the Facts, Please. NAACP Director, The White House, and Congress Member Speak On Shirley Sherrod Incident

Call Shirley Sherrod Firing A Mistake. When the viral video of Shirley Sherrod hit the Internet earlier this week, people called Sherrod, a Black woman - accused of not helping a white farmer lose his farm -  a racist.  Tea Party member Andrew Breitbart . Video editor and fire starter . As we now know, the video didn't show the entire story.  The story that Sherrod, a product of the racist, segregated Georgia South, has been a crusader championing the cause for equal rights her whole adult life. Sherrod was fired from her job as an official with the US Department of Agriculture, and received from the agency's Tom Vilsack  scathing remarks.  ( He has since retracted them). Said Vilsack,  "This is a good woman." She has been put through hell. I could have done and should have done a better job." But Vilsack wasn't the only person in this firestorm of attacks on Sherrod.  The NAACP, once they saw the video, also acted in...
