The White House will open its gardens and grounds to visitors on Saturday, October 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m., and on Sunday, October 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Visitors can view the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, Rose Garden and the South Lawn of the White House. The Kitchen Garden will once again be accessible to tour guests. The Garden Tours are free and open to the public; however, a ticket is required for all attendees (including small children). The National Park Service will distribute free, timed tickets at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion located at 15th and E Streets on each tour day beginning at 8:00 a.m. Tickets will be distributed -- one ticket per person -- on a first-come, first-served basis. Spooky?  The White House in pink.  (BCAM photo/L. Jackson) With Halloween beckoning around the corner, the thought of ghosts and goblins permeate the season. But are there really ghosts at the White House? A web site purporting to have the inside scoop on such things reveals there could be at least ten.  We'll reveal at least three that  even include former presidents. Ghost #1: President Lincoln.   Lincoln might as well still be collecting a salary based on how often he seems to be at the White House. Winston Churchill had a famous encounter with Lincoln in the Lincoln bedroom. After a hot bath with a Scotch and a cigar, Churchill climbed out of the bath naked (obviously) and went back into the bedroom to get ready for bed. Call Shirley Sherrod Firing A Mistake. When the viral video of Shirley Sherrod hit the Internet earlier this week, people called Sherrod, a Black woman - accused of not helping a white farmer lose his farm -  a racist.  Tea Party member Andrew Breitbart . Video editor and fire starter . As we now know, the video didn't show the entire story.  The story that Sherrod, a product of the racist, segregated Georgia South, has been a crusader championing the cause for equal rights her whole adult life. Sherrod was fired from her job as an official with the US Department of Agriculture, and received from the agency's Tom Vilsack  scathing remarks.  ( He has since retracted them). Said Vilsack,  "This is a good woman." She has been put through hell. I could have done and should have done a better job."
