The web site isn't yet available (at the time of this posting), but the White House today announced the latest step in President and Mrs. Obama’s efforts to truly make 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue “The People’s House”, by working with Google Art Project to create a virtual 360-degree tour of the White House’s public rooms.  Since the President’s inauguration – when he and Mrs. Obama surprised guests attending public tours – the Obamas have worked to make the White House more open and accessible. First Lady Michelle Obama, along with dog Bo, surprised White House tour visitors yesterday, aneven the one wearing a Ron Paul T-shirt.   Still, the first lady had to remain poised, even in the face of a supporter of her husband's competition. Mrs. Obama also greeted military nurses, 'Ronald McDonald', and scores of school kids who were visiting from around the country - all of whom exchanged hugs, brief stories, and pleasantries. "We voted for you last time and we're voting again this time", said one visitor. "I was pulling for you to win" the push-up competition with Ellen , said another. The White House will open its gardens and grounds to visitors on Saturday, October 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m., and on Sunday, October 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Visitors can view the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, Rose Garden and the South Lawn of the White House. The Kitchen Garden will once again be accessible to tour guests. The Garden Tours are free and open to the public; however, a ticket is required for all attendees (including small children). The National Park Service will distribute free, timed tickets at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion located at 15th and E Streets on each tour day beginning at 8:00 a.m. Tickets will be distributed -- one ticket per person -- on a first-come, first-served basis. It wouldn't be Spring in Washington without touring the White House. The grounds are perky and sprung with all types and colors of Spring flowers and foilage at Springtime, and even more beautiful in summer. You can see the White House gardens starting next month. The White House will open its gardens and grounds to visitors on Saturday, April 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Sunday, April 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visitors can view the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden , Rose Garden , Children’s Garden and the South Lawn of the White House.
