Biden's Christmas address also includes tribute to sports legend.

President Biden, in his 2022 Christmas address to the country, admonished Americans to 'look out for one another', and be 'kind' to one another. ADVERTISEMENT CMB BUSINESS SOLUTIONS Here a few excerpts from his address. "That’s why sometimes the smallest act of kindness can mean so much.  A simple smile.  A hug.  An unexpected phone call.  A quiet cup of coffee.  Simple acts of kindness that can lift a spirit, provide compo- -- comfort, and perhaps maybe even save a life.   So, this Christmas, let’s spread a little kindness.   This Christmas, let’s be that -- that helping hand, that strong shoulder, that friendly voice when no one else seems to care for those who are struggling, in trouble, in need.  It just might be the best gift you can ever give." "The Christmas story is at the heart of the Christmas -- Christian faith.  But the message of hope, love, peace, and joy, they’re also universal.   It speaks to all of us, whether we’re Chri...

President Biden discusses America's economy during July 4th address to military families.

"Our Economy is the strongest in the world."  " . ..  Our economy is growing, but not without pain.  Liberty is under assault -- assault both here and abroad.  In recent days, there's been reason to think that this country is moving backward, that  freedom  is being reduced, that rights we assumed were protected are no longer.  A reminder that we remain in an ongoing battle for the soul of America, as we have for over 200 years.  4th of July photo courtesy of - the Internet. Malia to Harvard; POTUS mic drops

Two items that made the news a bit worthwhile over the weekend. Malia Obama, 17, will be going to Harvard according to a statement from the Office of the First Lady, following in the footsteps of her parents. The press release also states that, "Malia will take a gap year before beginning school." The Obamas are both Harvard law school graduates; the first lady in 1988, the president in 1991. Read : Harvard and slavery . America has watched the Obama girls, Malia Ann and her sister Natasha (Sasha), grow up in the White House since they were the wee ages of 9 and 6, and look at them now.  The Obama girls, whenever they're asked, 'So, where did you grow up, can say 'I grew up in the White House.' Both young ladies made Makers.com's 31 Most Influential Women under 30  back in March. The girls have been scrutinized by more than a few mean people since they graced the White House with their presence; however, despite what these mean people say  th...

Mr. 51 Meets Mr. 44

It isn't their first meeting, but sure may have been the most fun. Golden State Warriors' power three-point man Stephen 'Steph' Curry and the rest of the 2015 NBA Champions were honored by President Obama Thursday in the East Room of the White House. While the star of the Warriors media room, and Steph Curry's daughter, Riley, wasn't in attendance to witness her dad being honored (and joked on) by the leader of the free world she was certainly in his thoughts. "Now, let me begin by saying I was hoping that Riley Curry would be here today to share the podium with me, but I guess I'm going to have to get media training some other day." The president referenced Curry's 51 points scored in the 134-121 win over the Washington Wizards Wednesday, 33 of them via his signature three-point arsenal. "For those of you who watched the game against the Wizards last night", said the president, "he was, to use slang, he was clownin...

Third Time Giants Honored at White House

The adage 'the third time is the charm' really holds true for the San Francisco Giants. In usual celebratory fashion the president poked fun at the players, shed hope for his team (the Chicago White Sox) and commended the giants team for their championship season. "Whenever the Giants make the playoffs... they'll probably win it", said the president. Commenting on what could be defined as the team's winning strategy, the president said, "They've got that even-year magic, they've got that championship experience." The president even suggested he was good luck for them. The team imparted gifts upon the president, among them a team-autographed jersey, baseball, and new this year - a team a...

Remembering Ernie Banks

Hall of Fame baseball legend Ernie Banks passed last Friday. We are remembering the special time that he gave to us in 2013 after accepting his prestigious Medal of Freedom award from President Obama. Mr. Ernie Banks, (a.k.a. Mr. Cub) during the 2013 Medal of Freedom award ceremony.  Photo/CD Brown. The famed major league baseball player (1953-1971) chatted lightheartedly with many of us in the media that day, even going as far as saying hello to my three grandchildren via video.  Also remembered, perhaps, was a favorite from one of his quotes when he sounded so grateful just...to be. "This is a great world", he said. "It really is. I'm just happy to be here, in Washington." Mr. Banks died of an apparent heart attack, leaving behind a wife, his storied Chicago Cubs baseball legacy, and the thoughts of kindness and humility to those meeting him for the very first time; reminding us all to "just be nice to people." Two briefing room visits; two resignations

President Obama was busy at the podium in the James Brady briefing room Friday. Earlier in the day he announced the resignation of VA Secretary Eric Shisenki amid allegations of nationwide misconduct within the Veteran Administration's (VA) hospitals. Before that, he announced that Shinseki would be firing a few officials within the VA hierarchy.  Said the president to reporters in the briefing room, "Secretary Shinseki has now begun the process of firing many of the people responsible, including senior leaders at the Phoenix VA.  He’s canceled any possible performance bonuses this year for VHA senior executives.  And he has ordered the VA to personally contact every veteran in Phoenix waiting for appointments to get them the care that they need and that they deserve.  The president said he would hold accountable those responsible, and it looks like Shinseki  also made that list. "Last week, I said that if we found misconduct, it would be punishe...
