Affordable Care Act Extensions Being Offered

President Obama announced today that Americans who lost their health care plan as a result of the Affordable Care Act  can regain their plans, at least for a year. Speaking today in the James Brady briefing room, the president explained this new initiative in the wake of the failed HealthCare.gov web site and looming concerns over mandated ACA policy concerns. Said the president, "Insurers can extend current plans that otherwise would be canceled into 2014 and Americans whose plans have been canceled can choose to re-enroll in the same kind of plan."  Adding, "This fix won't solve every problem for every person, but it's going to help a lot of people. Doing more would require work with Congress." Uh, oh.  The 'C' word. Working with Congress is like trying to get a six year-old to keep their shoes tied. We know that Congress has been the bane of the Affordable Care Act from the beginning.  The president's apology for the website'...

GOP Tries To Right Its Wrongs

Is it no surprise that the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Reibus Prince, picked today, March 18th, to launch the Reibus Report ? (At least that's what we're calling it here). It's his birthday. So, the 37 year old releases a report titled the GOP ( G rowth and O pportunity P roject), nonetheless - to explain why the Republican Party lost the election, and to also see how best the party can repair its self from its own collateral damage of not being able to connect with the American people. "At our core, Republicans have comfortably remained the Party of Reagan without figuring out what comes next', states the report. "Ronald Reagan is a Republican hero and role model who was first elected 33 years ago — meaning no one under the age of 51 today was old enough to vote for Reagan when he first ran for President. Our Party knows how to appeal to older voters, but we have lost our way with younger ones. We sound increasingly out of touch....

Secretary of State Annoyed With Benghazi Line of Questioning?

Oh, the difference between Eric Holder testifying on Capitol Hill about his role in the 'Fast and Furious' debacle that saw hundreds of guns enter the pipe line of illegal guns being sold on the US streets from Mexican drug cartel seizures, and today's testimony by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton . While Holder was timid, evasive and subdued Clinton, during one portion of the questioning today on the Benghazi event that killed a US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, decided she'd had enough of the fervent bombardment and line of questioning from the GOP. Clinton confessed that she takes full responsibility for not providing the protection needed in the area on the day of September 11, 2012, the anniversary of the 911 attack here in the U.S. She refuted any claims that the administration gave false Intel into why the American people were told several different versions of exactly what happened during the Benghazi attack. Initially, US Ambass...

A Three Day Tour. A Three Day (Economic) Tour

Is the president shadowing Baachman, other GOP presidential hopefuls? President Obama embarks today on a three-day bus tour to connect with Americans on jobs and the economy. President Obama begins his first leg of a three-day tour across the Midwest hoping he'll find ways from the American people to "grow the economy, strengthen the middle class and accelerate hiring in communities and towns across the nation".   The president expects to speak to small business owners, local families, private sector leaders, rural organizations, and government officials. The first stop, on Monday (today) will be in Minnesota where the President will host a town hall event in Cannon Falls, Minnesota at Lower Hannah's Bend Park. Coincidence?:  Minnesota is also home to GOP front runner, Michelle Baachman. Oddly enough the president's first day will also include Iowa (he knows how important those Iowa caucuses are) where he will host a town hall event in De...

Prayer For Congress To Reach Agreement on Debt Ceiling

Organizers of the Pray Without Ceasing Political Party met in front of the White House today to pray that Congress and the Obama Administration will come together on issues of debt conciliation and other issues. "I'm just ashamed of our Congress right now", said founder Rocky Twyman. Twyman stated that Former First Lady Betty Ford wanted it known that she was for both parties coming together to solve America's issues.  No other time is that needed than right now.  He called the timing of her death, when the two parties seemed stalled on reaching any agreement after several days of talks and bargaining, prophetic. "How prophetic it is that she told Cokie Roberts [reporter] in 2007 that she wanted it to be known at her funeral that she was for Democrats and Republicans coming together", Twyman said.   This has been a tumultuous week, with so much confusion between the Democrats and Republicans. Republicans are calling for no increas...

Group Plans Betty Ford and Debt Ceiling Crisis Vigil In Front of White House

Notice: We were contacted by the PWCPP organizer and asked to post this on our website. THE WHITE HOUSE TRIBUTE TO FORMER FIRST LADY BETTY FORD - July 14, 2011 (From the PWCPP organizers). Organizers of the Pray Without Ceasing Political Party (PWCPP) say that if Betty and Gerald Ford were still alive, they would have encouraged a more civil debate about the SERIOUS DEBT CEILING CRISIS THAT IS THREATENING TO RUIN OUR AMERICAN ECONOMY. ABC'S COKIE ROBERTS JUST SAID THAT BETTY FORD TOLD HER TO TALK ABOUT THE NEED FOR BIPARTISANSHIP AT HER FUNERAL. THE TIME HAS NEVER BE MORE RIPE FOR SUCH A DISCUSSION. The country has lost a treasure in the death of Betty Ford. She and her husband came to the White House during one of the most difficult times in our country-when President Nixon resigned. In order to make sure that the true contribution of these great individuals are not lost in the annals of history, the new energized Pray Without Ceasing Political Party (PWCPP) will hold...

The First Family Returns To Washington

President Obama Gets Back To Work. The First Family returned to Washington this morning amid chilly, but sunny Washington, DC skies.   The First Family returns to Washington after vacationing in Hawaii over the Christmas Holiday.  Photo/CD Brown. President Obama, after spending a lengthy, but much needed vacation in Hawaii with his family (where he golfed and played basketball), returns to work this week expecting first to sign into law the Food Safety bill.  The legislation represents a critical step forward in making sure America's food supply is safer by giving the Food and Drug Administration important new tools to protect our food supply and keep consumers safe.  While on vacation President Obama signed into law H.R. 847, the “James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act,” which establishes the World Trade Center Health Program and extends and expands eligibility for compensation under the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of ...

House Regains Control. Obama Thanks Supporters. Vows To Work With GOP.

"After what I'm sure was a long night for a lot of you -- and needless to say it was for me -- I can tell you that some election nights are more fun than others.  Some are exhilarating; some are humbling.  But every election, regardless of who wins and who loses, is a reminder that in our democracy, power rests not with those of us in elected office, but with the people we have the privilege to serve."   - President Barack Obama The GOP has regained controlled of the House in an over whelming victory. President Obama, in a White House East Room statement yesterday, said of the GOP win that he looks forward to working with both parties to move the country forward. "And I told John Boehner and Mitch McConnell last night I am very eager to sit down with members of both parties and figure out how we can move forward together", said Obama. President Obama plans to invite Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi to the White House for meeting later this month. A...

Winning Some. Losing Some.

The Republicans in the Senate are like the weather.   You never know which way they'll blow. Or decide. Today marked one victory for the Obama administration, and on the other hand yet another setback from what president Obama calls the "partisan minority." The heavily debated jobs bill was finally approved today after months of delay.  Welcoming the news, President Obama said, "The small business jobs bill passed today will help provide loans and cut taxes for millions of small business owners without adding a dime to our nation’s deficit.  After months of partisan obstruction and needless delay, I’m grateful that Democrats and a few Republicans came together to support this common-sense plan to put Americans back to work.  I look forward to signing the bill on Monday." It is expected that the bill will allow small business owners to benefit from tax breaks and additional lending to allow companies have the capital to grow and hire more p...
