About That Historic Infrastructure Bill; Making It Plain

President Biden 'clears up' infrastructure misunderstanding.  Last week Congress, seemingly, came together in support of a massive infrastructure bill that could potentially repair America's bridges, roads, bridge the digital divide and provide hundreds of jobs. While both Democrats and Republicans revealed neither side got what they wanted, (including the amount of spending needed to move the country forward in an attempt to 'compete with China), several provisions of the proposed bill seem palpable. READ: DC bridge collapses during rush hour However, the president made a statement that he would veto the bill if his request for other needed services (such as education and child care) under the American Families Plan were not included. His words set off a firestorm of opposition for both parties, mainly Republicans who felt they were not getting (mainly spending cuts) what was initially agreed upon. This prompted Biden to walk back, and  'make plain', his initia...

No to Keystone Pipeline

President Obama, as promised to Congress on several inferences, has vetoed a bill blocking the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. In the president's veto message to Congress, the president writes, "I am returning herewith without my approval S. 1, the "Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act."  Through this bill, the United States Congress attempts to circumvent longstanding and proven processes for determining whether or not building and operating a cross-border pipeline serves the national interest." The Keystone XL pipeline has been a point of contention between Congress and the president for some time.   Congress, with glaring approval from the House speaker John Boehner, claims that building the pipeline would create hundreds of job.  He has called the presidential veto a "national embarrassment ." Said the speaker in a You Tube address , "It;s embarrassing when Russion and China are plowing ahead on two massive pipelines and we ca...

**Update** President Obama spoke at Del Sol High School to announce actions he plans to take to reform the country's immigration policy.  Click here to view. President Obama is set to address the nation Thursday, November 20, to lay out the executive actions he's taking on America's immigration system. Many are expecting that the president will allow illegal immigrants to remain in the U.S. and will assist those wanting a path to citizenship with obtaining citizenship status, "the right way." For many undocumented immigrants, immigration reform is a very real issue; one they hope will be resolved quickly. Protest have occurred across the country from Latino Americans, the demographic immigration reform heavily emphasizes, urging the president to cease the deportation of illegal immigrants. Said Jose Cabellos at a campaign event in 2013, (see at 1:11 video mark here ), "We want comprehensive immigration reform.  Right now families are being ...

Republicans: No Budget. No Pay.

Republicans are pushing their 'No Budget. No Pay' agenda. In an email that went out yesterday House Republicans state: "Today the House passed No Budget, No Pay legislation with bi-partisan support. The bill will require the House and Senate each to pass a budget, and Member pay will be withheld if they fail. The principle is simple: no budget, no pay. It's time for the Senate to act. It has been almost four years since the Democratic-controlled Senate passed a budget, while our national debt has skyrocketed by over $5 trillion." Watch their new video "Earning It", about Senate Democrats' failure to do their jobs and pass a budget, says the email. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Chair, House Republican Conference encourages Americans to help them "keep the pressure on the Senate to follow the law and pass a budget".  She also asks her constituents to forward share the above video on their Facebook and Twitter accounts. She further wr...

An Affair?  A Senate Seat Payoff? Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr . is being touted as having the same proclivity as his father, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr. Jesse Jackson, Sr and wife, Alderwoman Sandi Jackson. Allegations that Jackson, Jr. had an affair with a DC restaurant hostess have resurfaced for the young Chicago representative who said earlier this week that, "This reference to a social acquaintance is a private and personal matter between me and my wife that was handled some time ago. I know I have disappointed some supporters and for that I am deeply sorry." His wife, Sandi Jackson, Alderwoman for the city's 7th Ward, who Jackson did not apologize to in the above-mentioned comment, called the allegation "not new." "Today's public disclosure is not new and is one that my family and I have been privately addressing for two years. Therefore, I would hope that the public and the media will respect our family's right to ...

Oh, To Be Republican

And The Tries That Do Not Bind. The Repubs are at it again - trying to do everything they can to put a wedge between the plans of the President of the United States, Barack Obama, to move the country forward. They voted 'No' (almost holding up medical insurance for American people for over a year) on virtually all phases (and facets) of the newly passed Health Care Bill. They started the so-called Tea Party Movement , a group of angry US  mobsters citizens(across the nation) who have protested the Stimulus Package , continue to get weak minded people riled up in the name of Democracy, been allowed to shout vile (and foul) language to members of Congress , and really set a bad example for our children to follow regarding conflict resolution. The Republicans have even held up Senate nomimations from President Obama, such that badly needed vacancies have been unfilled for almost an entire year. “Most of the men and women whose appoint...
