When President Obama isn't wearing suits (that sometimes sag around his ankles) he likes to dress down.  Usually we see him in khakis (or dockers ), or in the male version of mom jeans . But yesterday, during the White House 4th of July celebration, we noticed something considerably different in his dress-down attire. The Commander-in-Chief was wearing a stylish, (hip, even) pair of jeans.  Different in style, different in color; new perhaps. (Then there's always the chance it could be the same pair as these ). Anyway, take a look.  We think he upped his swag with his 'new' jeans as he greeted the nearly 1,200 military personnel and their families.  The president told those in attendance, "There is no group we'd rather spend time with on this most American of holidays than you." Happy (early) birthday to First Lady Michelle Obama who will be celebrating her 48th birthday January 16th. To begin a busy weekend leading up her birthday, First Lady Obama will join the cast of Nickelodeon’s iCarly  this Friday at a special screening of “iMeet The First Lady,” a new episode featuring Mrs. Obama that honors America’s military children.  The show’s lead character, Carly Shay (played by Miranda Cosgrove), is the daughter of an Air Force Colonel currently serving overseas in the military.  In “iMeet the First Lady,” Mrs. Obama talks with Carly about her service to America as a member of a military family and thanks her friends for supporting her during her father’s deployment.  The episode airs on the first lady's birthday on Nickelodeon, Monday, January 16th.  Mrs. Obama will also appear in a Joining Forces PSA produced by Nickelodeon that will debut immediately following the airing of “iMeet the First Lady”. President Obama celebrated his birthday (officially today, August 4th) in Chicago last evening with a few friends while making a couple of speeches during DNC events. Among those helping him celebrate, singer Jennifer Hudson , and others at Chicago's Aragon Entertainment Center. Mr. President said he couldn't have had a better birthday present than spending the night in Chicago, his 'home town'.  "It's true that I turn 50 tomorrow," he said, adding that by the time he wakes up tomorrow he expects an email from AARP "asking me to call President Obama and tell him to protect Medicare." Despite the focus being on him he was par for the course in addressing the needs of Americans, and of course, the tumultuous few weeks (months) in Washington trying to pass the debt ceiling bill. Today Is Our President's 49th Birthday.   Wish our president a Happy 49th Birthday ! The president will be traveling to Chicago this weekend for his 49th birthday, an event that includes being away from his family on his special day. Aw, so sad. Daughter, Malia is away at camp, and o ur First Lady is traveling to Spain this week with Sasha for a private, mother-daughter trip with longtime family friends (about 60) where she is paying an official visit to Their Majesties - King Juan Carlos - and Queen Sophia of Spain at their invitation. (Just to point out, President Obama was not out of town for his wife's birthday, and took First Lady Michelle out to dinner at Restaurant Nora, a well-known organic restaurant here in D.C. on her birthday earlier this year).
