Vice President Biden Meets With General Patreaus

Vice President Biden joined General David Petraeus and Mrs. Holly Petraeus for dinner at their home in Tampa, Florida. General Petraeus replaced Stanley McChrystal earlier this month as lead commander in Afghanistan when McChrystal's  disparaging remarks about the Obama Administration became public. "I am extremely grateful to the Senate for acting so quickly to confirm General Petraeus to lead our military effort in Afghanistan. General Petraeus is a pivotal part of our effort to succeed in Afghanistan - and in our broader effort to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat al Qaeda – and he has my full confidence. The Senate’s quick action and General Petraeus’s unrivaled experience will ensure we do not miss a beat in our strategy to break the Taliban’s momentum and build Afghan capacity", said President Obama. General Patraeus is expected to take up his new post as commander of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in July.

McChrystal Resigns Over Administration and Afghanistan Remarks.

CNN is reporting that Gen. Stanley McChrystal has submitted his resignation.   His resignation comes after comments McChrystal , a ranking U.S. military commander in Afghanistan, made in an upcoming June 25th Rolling Magazine article began surfacing on the Internet. The article details McChrystal criticizing senior White House aides, while his assistants make fun at administration officials overseeing the war.  It is reported that McChrystalmade fun of White House National Security Adviser Jim Jones -- a retired four-star general -- calling him a "clown stuck in 1985."  The Rolling Stone article also became evident on a Facebook page owned by one Michael Yon .  Yon has snippets of the RS article that shows more evidence of McChrystal's sentiments about his job, and President Obama, saying Obama didn't really know much about him before hiring him for the Afghanistan job.
