Wednesday, July 27, 2021 marked the first day of the January 6, 2020 Capitol Hill insurrection. Testimonies from four U.S. Capitol police officers offered (beyond) revealing testimony about what they went through the day of January 6, 2021 that left two officers dead, multiple officers wounded and another recovering from a heart attack. When asked about the attacks reduced to just “hugs and kisses”, capitol police offer Aquilino Gonell suggested that the same be offered up to Donald Trump. (He later retracted this comment.) Officers testified that they were punched, sprayed with contaminants, called racial epithets, beaten with multiple objects (to include flag poles) as they were outnumbered as they tried to gain control, (despite not using their government-issued firearms to defend themselves in the face of a clear and present danger). Boehner Lauds Rosa Parks Statue at US Capitol

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) along with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will host a statue dedication ceremony in honor of the late Rosa Louise Parks on Wednesday, February 27 at 11:00 A.M. ET in National Statuary Hall of the United States Capitol. “All of the statues in this building are important, but none honor an African-American woman … that is, until next week, when Mrs. Parks takes her rightful place alongside the inventors, war heroes, freedom fighters, and doers who represent the heart of the American story. It’s another breakthrough for someone who has made so many of them possible” , said Boehner.
