It's Easter. Let's Celebrate.

This is Easter weekend. Time to polish off the shoes (or buy new ones), get out the springtime dresses, attend an Easter service (or two) and participate in all that celebrates the Easter holiday - which, of course, includes attending the annual White House Easter Egg Roll  happening Monday. 2015 Easter Egg Roll: Let's Move!, Live! and #Gimme5!

The annual Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn of the White House was again flanked with kids of all sizes and ages dressed in pretty, and handsomely colored Easter attire waiting their turn to roll an Easter egg down a stretch of green, spring grass.  There were no prizes for the winners who got their egg to the finish line first; just the pageantry of being on the White House lawn, seeing the president and first lady and having amazing fun. 2015 White House Easter Egg Roll challenges Americans to #Gimme5 ways to your healthy!

First Lady Michelle Obama announces Easter Egg Roll 2015 using the # Gimme5 theme. In the spirit of the first lady's Let's Move! campaign, Mrs. Obama is challenging Americans to implement five things they are doing to be healthy. The 2015 Easter Egg Roll will be held this year on April 6th.  The ticket lottery begins Monday, February 23 and will close Thursday, February 26 at noon.  

2014 White House Easter Egg Roll

Today, the President and First Lady announced the theme for this year’s White House Easter Egg Roll: “Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape.”  Part of the President and First Lady’s ongoing effort to open the White House to as many people as possible, the event will open its South Lawn for children ages 13 years and younger and their families.   In support of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative to help kids grow up healthy and  have the opportunity to reach their full potential, the event will feature sports courts, cooking stations, and, of course, Easter egg rolling in addition to live music and storytelling.   The ticket lottery opens today, Friday, March 7, at 10:00 a.m. EST and will close on Monday, March 10 , at 10:00 a.m. EDT .  To enter the lottery, please go to www.recreation.gov .  Tickets are free of charge and cannot be sold.    The lottery results will be posted online at www.recreation.gov , and all lottery partic...

2013 White House Easter Egg Roll

The Easter Egg Roll will take place Monday, April 1st, on the South Lawn of the White House and is focused on promoting health and wellness with the theme, “Be Healthy, Be Active, Be You!” The event will feature live music, sports courts, cooking stations, storytelling and, of course, Easter egg rolling. The entire Easter Egg Roll event, including all of the headliner music acts and Storytime Stage readers, will be broadcast live on www.whitehouse.gov/eastereggroll . Be Healthy! Be You! Talent Line-up This year’s special guest is Robby Novak, better known as Kid President. The White House announced the beginning of the ticket lottery and sale of souvenir Easter eggs for the 2012 White House Easter Egg Roll, starring the ever popular White House dog, Bo. This year’s White House Easter Egg Roll is focused on promoting health and wellness with the theme,“Let's Go, Let's Play, Let's Move!” All of the activities will encourage children to lead healthy and active lives, which is of the focus of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative, a national campaign to solve the problem of childhood obesity within a generation. White House Easter Roll: Sunny Skies, Hot Temps, A Bunny and Bo

Aw, Spring.    The time of year when the White House boasts beautiful flowers of all types in its garden, and where thousands of kids come to play and hang out with the First Family during the annual Easter Egg Roll , a tradition that started in 1876 by then President Rutherford B. Kids near and far attended the traditional rolling of the Easter egg down the White House lawn (with a spoon) as did as a few celebrities to boot.   Even Department of Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood braved the long lines of kids and parents, bringing with him his two grandchildren.
